SPS LIVE ATTENDEE TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Last updated: 14 October 2026

1. ABOUT THESE TERMS

1.1  These terms apply to every ticket bought for, and every person attending, any The Self Publishing Show Live event (each an "Event"), wherever in the world it is held. Events are organised by The Self Publishing Formula Limited ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales, company number 09710468, of Windover House, St Ann Street, Salisbury, SP1 2DR, United Kingdom. The current version of these terms is always published at learnselfpublishing.com/spslive-terms.

1.2  By buying a ticket, or by attending an Event with a ticket bought by someone else, you agree to these terms and to the Event Code of Conduct. Because the Code of Conduct is specific to each Event, we will supply it to you before the Event. If you buy tickets for other people, you must make sure they have read and accepted these terms before they attend.

1.3  These terms, the Code of Conduct and the information on the Event web pages at the time you book form the whole agreement between you and us for the Event.

1.4  We may update these terms for future Events. The version published when you book is the one that applies to your ticket.

2. TICKETS, PAYMENT AND REFUNDS

2.1  Your ticket is confirmed once we have received payment in full (or, where we offer a payment plan, your first instalment). If you book on a payment plan, you are committing to pay the full ticket price; a ticket is only valid for entry once all instalments have been paid.

2.2  Tickets are non-refundable. We commit to venue hire, catering, speakers, production and staff many months before the Event and those costs are incurred whether or not you attend. We therefore cannot refund a ticket if you change your mind, cannot attend, arrive late or leave early, or do not attend for any other reason, including illness, travel disruption or visa refusal. We strongly recommend you take out travel or event insurance that covers you against non-attendance.

2.3  Because an Event takes place on fixed dates, the 14-day cancellation ("cooling-off") right that normally applies to online purchases does not apply to Event tickets. This does not affect your other statutory rights, including your rights under section 7 if we cancel or materially change the Event.

2.4  Ticket prices are as shown on the Event web pages at the time of booking, in the currency stated there. VAT or sales tax is charged where applicable and will be shown before you pay. Early-bird and other promotional prices are only available for the period and quantity advertised.

2.5  Your ticket covers admission to the Event sessions on the days shown on it and any catering we state is included. It does not cover travel, accommodation, or optional extras such as evening receptions, which are sold separately and are subject to these same terms.

3. TRANSFERRING OR RESELLING YOUR TICKET

3.1  Although tickets are not refundable, you may transfer or resell your ticket to another person, provided you follow this section.

3.2  You must tell us the name and email address of the new ticket holder by emailing support@learnselfpublishing.com no later than the day before the Event starts. We will then reissue the ticket in their name. Tickets presented at the door in a name that does not match our attendee list may be refused.

3.3  A ticket may only be resold for no more than the price you paid for it, including any fees. Tickets must not be offered for sale on commercial secondary ticketing sites, used as a prize, or bundled into any commercial offer without our written agreement.

3.4  Any resale or transfer is between you and the new ticket holder. We are not party to it and will not refund either of you if it goes wrong. The new ticket holder accepts these terms and the Code of Conduct when they take the ticket.

3.5  Tickets sold at a discounted or restricted rate (for example early-bird tickets or tickets reserved for a particular group) may only be transferred to someone who would have qualified for that rate.

4. THE PROGRAMME

4.1  We will publish the Event programme, including speakers and session titles, on the Event web pages before the Event. The programme is our plan, not a promise.

4.2  Speakers, sessions, timings, rooms and formats are subject to change. Speakers may withdraw at short notice for reasons outside our control. We will tell you about changes as soon as we reasonably can, but we cannot guarantee that any particular speaker will appear or that any particular session will take place.

4.3  No individual session is guaranteed. Where a session or room has limited capacity, places are allocated on a first-come basis unless we say otherwise.

4.4  Changes to the programme do not entitle you to a refund, except where the change is so significant that the Event as a whole is no longer substantially what you booked (see section 7).

4.5  Speakers express their own views. We do not endorse them and are not responsible for any decision you take based on what you hear at the Event.

5. CODE OF CONDUCT, COMPLAINTS AND REFUSAL OF ENTRY

5.1  Every attendee, speaker, sponsor, exhibitor, volunteer and staff member must follow the Event Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct is specific to each Event and we will supply it to you before the Event. By accepting these terms you agree to read the Code of Conduct before you attend and to be bound by it, including its process for reporting and dealing with complaints.

5.2  If a complaint is made about your behaviour, you agree that we may investigate it and decide what action to take in line with the Code of Conduct process. That process, not these terms, sets out how complaints are received, who handles them and what outcomes are possible.

5.3  We may refuse you entry to, or remove you from, the Event, the venue or any associated event (such as a reception or social) if we reasonably believe you have breached, or are likely to breach, these terms or the Code of Conduct. We may also decline to sell you tickets to future Events.

5.4  If we refuse entry or remove you under 5.3, your ticket is forfeited and no refund will be given. You will remain responsible for any damage or loss you cause.

5.5  You must also follow the venue's own rules and any reasonable instructions given by our team or venue staff, including on security, fire safety and the use of the venue's facilities.

5.6  Venue security may ask to check bags or refuse entry to anyone who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, is carrying a prohibited item, or poses a risk to others. Attendees must be aged 16 or over unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.

6. PHOTOGRAPHY, FILMING AND RECORDING

6.1  We photograph and film our Events, including sessions, the exhibition area, networking and social events. By attending you accept that you may be photographed, filmed or recorded, and that your image, likeness and voice may appear in that material.

6.2  We may use this material in any media, worldwide and without payment to you, including session recordings sold or given to attendees, promotional material for future Events, our websites, podcast, social media and press. We may also share it with our sponsors and partners for their coverage of the Event.

6.3  We rely on our legitimate interest in recording and promoting the Event as the legal basis for this. Because the Event is filmed throughout, we are not able to offer an opt-out from photography or filming. If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, you should not attend. Our privacy policy explains how to exercise your data protection rights, including the right to object to a specific use of your image after the Event.

6.4  You may take photographs and short video for personal and social-media use, provided you do not disrupt a session and the speaker has not asked that their session is not recorded. You must not record full sessions or publish recordings of sessions without our written permission. Speakers' slides and materials remain their copyright.

6.5  Our privacy policy at learnselfpublishing.com/privacy explains how we handle your personal data, including images, and how to exercise your data protection rights.

7. IF WE CANCEL, POSTPONE OR MOVE THE EVENT

7.1  If we cancel the Event, we will refund the price you paid for your ticket in full to the original payment method within 14 days of our announcement. That refund is the limit of our liability: we will not reimburse travel, accommodation or other costs, which is why we recommend insurance (2.2).

7.2  If we move the Event to a different venue in the same city, your ticket remains valid for the new venue and no refund is due. If we postpone the Event, or move it to a different city, your ticket will be valid for the new date or location, or you may request a full refund of the ticket price in writing within 28 days of our announcement; after that, the ticket stands and the non-refundable terms apply.

7.3  If we are forced to change the Event because of circumstances outside our reasonable control (for example severe weather, transport strikes, venue failure, fire, flood, a public health emergency, or a government restriction), we may postpone it, change the venue, change the format, or shorten it. Where we are able to deliver the Event in substantially the form booked, no refund is due. Where we cannot, 7.1 or 7.2 applies.

7.4  We will announce any cancellation, postponement or change by email to the address on your booking and on the Event web pages. It is your responsibility to keep your contact details up to date and to check for updates before you travel.

7.5  Nothing in this section limits your statutory rights as a consumer.

8. LIABILITY, YOUR PROPERTY AND YOUR SAFETY

8.1  You attend the Event at your own risk. You are responsible for your own belongings. We are not responsible for loss, theft or damage to any property you bring to the venue, including laptops, phones and books, unless caused by our negligence.

8.2  You are responsible for any loss or damage you cause to the venue, its contents or other people's property, and for the behaviour of any guest you bring.

8.3  If we are liable to you for any reason connected with your ticket or the Event, our total liability is limited to the price you paid for your ticket, except where the law does not allow us to limit it.

8.4  Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8.5  We are not liable for any loss that was not a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms, nor for any business loss (such as lost sales, contracts or profits) arising from your attendance.

8.6  Tell a member of our team if you have an accessibility, dietary or medical need we should know about. We will do what we reasonably can to meet it, within the limits of the venue. Please tell us at least 14 days before the Event so we can make arrangements.

9. YOUR DATA AND OUR COMMUNICATIONS

9.1  We collect your name, email address and any other details you give us when booking so that we can run the Event, check you in, contact you about it and keep you safe. We handle your personal data in line with our privacy policy at learnselfpublishing.com/privacy.

9.2  We will email you about the Event you have booked. Those emails are part of the service, not marketing. We will only send you marketing about other Events, courses or products if you have opted in, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

9.3  We may share your name and the organisation you give us (but not your contact details) with sponsors for the purpose of the Event, for example on badges or an attendee list, unless you ask us not to at the time of booking.

10. GENERAL

10.1  These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute may be brought in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring a claim in your local courts, and nothing in these terms takes away protections you have under the law of the country where you live.

10.2  If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.

10.3  If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.

10.4  You may not transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else except by transferring your ticket under section 3.

10.5  Questions about these terms, your ticket or the Event: support@learnselfpublishing.com.
